The 2009 DD Awards will commence on 9-1-2009
Comics should be judged starting from this date? I read this as a suggestion. For story categories it doesn't make much sense to me though.

Should probably announce it again in July? Too early?

I probably won't have much time to be a great help on practical things (sorry!) but - as you indicated over at the DD forum - I'm more than happy to contribute ideas and generally chip in with my two-penn'orth if you're interested!

On the date thing, I'd agree this is far too early to announce anything publicly.  The important thing will be to publicise ahead of the voting period so, if nominations are to run until 15 August from, say, 1 August, I'd say early- to mid-July would be fine.

Also, the relevance of 1 September as a "start date" is a little misleading.  I think it's more like a kind of cut-off date.  Comics which have not updated between 1 Sept 08 and 31 Aug 09 should clearly not be eligible but - if you're also going to have a requirement that comics should have been active within the previous 60 days as we had before (and I think you should) - then it will really only affect completed comics.

I just set the forum up so early because the Awards are still fresh on people's minds. Easy to nitpick what went right and could have went better.

It also gives someone such as yourself with limited time MORE time to come in with an idea/suggestion/post ^_~

I was kind of thinking about reducing the hiatus time to 30 days. Completed comics and mid chapter/issue hiatus would probably only be effected by the 9-1-08 time frame

Speaking of completed comics, I wonder if we should ad a Best completed comic category =p
