I'm getting frustrated with Fighter Factory. Angry

I'm trying to create my first pallete.  This is my first try.  I'm trying to do Bishamon by 3ha.

I open the character in FF.  No problem.  Then I'm supposed to save a new .act file for him, right?  So I do that (saved to desktop as newbishamon.act), but then I can't open it under the Pallete menu in FF.  When I try to open my new .act for Bishamon, the title of the open file in FF still says bishamon(SFF).  Okay, I think I see the problem.  There's a newbishamon tab over in the Color Pallete window to the right.

On top of that, I can't figure out how to change the colors of his pallete.  I know how to select the color with the eyedropper tool, but then what do I click to fill parts of his pallete with the new color?

Also, I'm not misaligning the sprites when I move them around to zoom in for re-coloring, am I?  I know, this is probably a stupid question.  9 months and I still know next to nothing about creation behind Mugen. Embarrassed

Even though the palletes is not my department because I am not into fashion shows but I do play around with it. Basicaly you open up your character and select the eye dropper tool, the one that saiys "pick an image to find on the pallete" then it selects the color on the pallete box and then you click the box next to the eye dropper tool thats says "Define selected color" and the coloring thingy pops up. So then you just chose the color you want. And then add to custom colors. If you do this from the pallete menu thats how you make palletes. Then save and save as. And re-open the character and it will have the new colors to the pallete you saved.

If you open the Pallete Menu from Fighter Factory with the 1st sprite. You can just pick the color from the pallete box on the left and then hit define from the bottom and you can actualy see the color preview. I know it's icky at the moment but it's ok after a few tries. Again I am not a pallete pallete or effects guy so my word is not bond.

Cool, thanks for the help LaQuak. Azn

I'm just now realizing how time consuming this is going to be.  Is there an easier/faster way to do this?  I don't see how those pallete creators at MI belt out requests so fast. Shocked  Bishamon alone has 1,067 sprites!!!

No you don't have to do it sprite by sprite. The way I did it worked for the whole pallete if Shared Pallete is checked for each sprite. All you have to do is save it as a seconds pallete. Like if you edit KFM with a new pallete just name the new pallete kfm2.act

Sorry, I don't understand.

So I save as a new .act file called newbishamon before I start editing his pallete.  I've got newbishamon up, and I have Shared Pallete checked.  How does that make it so I don't have to do each sprite?

Come to find out, there don't seem to be any real FF pallete creation tutorials that I can find on any of the main Mugen sites... Undecided

You know how a character has more then one pallete. You can look at the .sff and look at the pallete box has like act1.act, act2.act ect. There has to be tutorials on YouTube about pallete creation. I guess try doing what I did and it should work. Worked on my end and I don't do palletes at all, ever.

I reformatted so I don't have anything I can log in. I like reformatting when I get bored w/o backing up. I did a quick search and came up to this. Pretty much what I did.

Oh wow.  This helps.  Good find, LaQuak.  I actually tried searching YouTube for a pallete tut some time ago, but I don't think I came up with anything good.  Thanks.  I definitely think it helps to be able to see what you're talking about.  I'm a visual learner, what can I say? Smiley

And here... we... go!

Finished my first pallete just now!  I did Gato from KOF.

So I've got my .act file saved to my desktop.  Now, how do I implement it?  In other words, how do I add it to my character so I can use it in the game?  Also, how do I assign a button to that pallete (i.e. LK to use the pallete I created)?

And does anyone know anything about pallete separation?

Thanks for the help! Grin

In your .def your should look something like:

Code:
pal1=act1.act
pal2=act2.act
pal3=act3.act
pal4=act4.act
pal5=act5.act
pal6=act6.act

Or you can open Fighter Factory and inside the .def window on the bottom should say "ACT Palletes, 1 by line" is where you can put what I pasted above. I forget how the button assigment is but I think act4 is low kick I could be wrong. I only remeber low kick because its the button I press on any creation because I make the pallete purple which is my favorite color so thats how I go about it. Pallete/color seperation is not my department unfortunately and never will be.

Um, I'm looking at FF now.  The ACT window says:

What should I type in for my newly created pallete?  It doesn't have a number name yet.

Are you saying
Code:
[s]pal/04gato.act[/s]
would be low kick?

Okay, got it to work! Cheesy

But according to his .def, pal4/03gato.act was LP instead of LK. Undecided
